Bankman-Fried Asks For Legal Relief, The Mother Uploads Good Charity And Behavior Activities SBF

JAKARTA - Sam Bankman-Fried, founder of the FTX crypto exchange which is caught in a fraud case, will face a verdict hearing next month. He hopes to get a pardon from the judge by filing a memo containing good charity and personality activities.

Bankman-Fried has been found guilty of seven counts of fraud and conspiracy last year. He was proven to have deceived FTX investors and customers and laundered money from his crimes. He was also charged with violating political campaign financing rules.

The Bankman-Fried legal team proposed that he be sentenced to between 63 and 78 months in prison, much less than the maximum sentence of 110 years that can be imposed by judges.

Sam is not a "bad genius" described in the media or greedy criminals described in the trial. He is a 31-year-old boy, brother, friend, humanist, and generous," reads a memo filed by lawyers on Tuesday night 27 February, adding that Bankman-Fried is "very, very sorry" for the suffering it causes, quoted from Blockworks.

The nearly 400-page document is also equipped with 29 support letters from various parties, including the Bankman-Fried family, former employees, doctors, and victims of the scam.

The letters discuss the character of Bankman-Fried, including anecdotes from his life before FTX and the philanthropic efforts he made as the head of the exchange.

Bankman-Fried's mother, Barbara Fried, wrote about her while in college when Bankman-Fried entertained a grieving friend. Kat Woods, a former FTX customer, told the court that although she had been "deeply harmed" by Bankman-Fried's actions, the despicable founder was definitely not a bad person.

Even as a billionaire, he drives the most ordinary car there is, "wrote Dr. George Lerner, his psychiatrist Bankman-Fried. He wears a camp T-shirt and shorts. He cooks most of his own food, usually frying vegan Trader Joe's meat with a little vegetables, enough for existing friends or guests.

Bankman-Fried has chosen to replace his legal team since being found guilty in November last year. He appointed Marc Mukasey and Torrey Young last month. This change was approved by judge Lewis Kaplan last week after confirming Bankman-Fried was aware of its rights.
