Food SOEs Flat The Roadmap Towards Self-Sufficiency In Sugar In 2030
Holding State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Food ID FOOD has prepared a roadmap to support the government in realizing national sugar self-sufficiency by 2030.
ID FOOD President Director Frans Marganda Tambunan said ID FOOD would carry out strategic steps, including accelerating the implementation of digitalization and mechanization of the sugar industry both on farm and off farm.
"ID FOOD itself has prepared a roadmap for the development of sugar industry technology to support the realization of sugar self-sufficiency in 2030 which is divided on farm and off farm," said Frans as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 28.
The sugar sector is still the main business line of the country's corporations.
ID FOOD has a big role and responsibility in supporting the achievement of self-sufficiency in consumption sugar in 2028 and self-sufficiency in the sugar industry as well as an increase in bioethenol production by 2030.
Frans said, to help achieve self-sufficiency in sugar 2030, there are many aspects of technology development that need to be done, such as the Internet of Things, Precision Agriculture, and Agricultural Mechanics.
In the early stages of 2024 to 2025, Frans said, the company focused on optimizing the use of mobile planning applications, monitoring drones for land data mapping and analysis, expanding the use of boom sprayers, arrangement of varieties, and implementing the ID FOOD sugar auction application.
"In the off farm line, an expansion of the use of sensors in each factory line is carried out and the standardization of the quality control process is carried out," he said.
The next stage in 2026-2028, there will be an improvement in the mobile planning feature, big sugarcane industry data, and the expansion of agricultural mechanization.
Then by 2029-2030, it is targeted that the ID FOOD sugar industry will be fully mechanized, including the implementation of Co-Gen (Cogeneration) for optimal absorption of energy produced by sugar factories.
The massive application of digitalization of sugar industry technology by business actors is the most effective step to support the achievement of the sugar self-sufficiency target by 2030.
Regarding the implementation of the roadmap for the development of sugar industry technology, ID FOOD has implemented a number of technological innovations such as Geospatial Information System (GIS), Precision Agriculture, and Smart Farming ID FOOD Information Technology (Safari).

For the implementation of GIS, Frans said, it was carried out in terms of mapping the garden area using RTK drones, garden application drones, web-based service analysis and drone service units.
The company will also continue to encourage the implementation of technology technology in the sugar industry in stages and sustainably.
Frans invites all sugar industry players, especially supporting industry players who provide digitalization and mechanization technology, to prepare a cooperation scheme that can help sugar industry players invest in technology more easily and more quickly.
