Floods Due To Extreme Rain Potentially Soak Palangka Raya, BPBD Clean Drainage

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) continues to try to clean up a number of drainages in Palangka Raya City to anticipate flooding during extreme rains.

"We say this activity is a service for cleaning drainage in the Jalan Sehat Adji area, which has been experiencing floods during extreme weather in the local area," said Head of the Palangka Raya City BPBD Preparedness Division Heri Fauzi in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan (Central Kalimantan), Monday, February 26, as reported by Antara.

He explained that in the near future a number of regional apparatus organizations (OPD) in the Palangka Raya City Government will also be involved in handling this matter.

This is done in collaboration so that flood problems and so on can be resolved properly.

Because if only one agency does it, he said, of course, problems like this cannot be resolved quickly.

"If the collaboration with the relevant OPD, of course, this issue will be resolved quickly and what if it rains with high intensity, the local area will not be flooded," he said.

Heri Fauzi also appealed to all people in Palangka Raya City to increase their awareness to always clean drainage in front of their house or drainage channels on the protocol road.

Because, by cleaning drainage channels a week or once a month by the community, of course this problem will not appear and disturb the comfort of residents.

"Our concern must be improved in carrying out community service, especially in cleaning drainage channels. We are also still monitoring which areas are prone to flooding and later similar handling will be carried out," said Heri Fauzi.

Some time ago the weather in Palangka Raya City was raining with a fairly high intensity and the duration was quite long. As a result, a number of points in the local area were flooded, thus disrupting the activity of passing vehicles at that time.

Currently, the Palangka Raya City Government through a number of other relevant agencies is also aggressively cleaning up drainage at a number of points with the aim of making water easy to flow when it rains.
