Mahfud Values Legitimately Dismantling Allegations Of Presidential Election Fraud Through The Rights Of The DPR's Angkat
JAKARTA - Candidate for vice president (cawapres) number 3 Mahfud MD said the application for the right of inquiry in the DPR to respond to allegations of fraud in the 2024 election was legitimate.
According to Mahfud, the right of inquiry is aimed at the government regarding its policies. In this case, elections are part of government policies and authorities.
"If possible, it is very permissible, this is now as if the spokesperson's discussion was distributed to say that the inquiry was not suitable, who said it did not match," Mahfud said in his written statement, Sunday, February 25, as reported by Antara.
Mahfud explained that the right of inquiry is the right of the DPR to conduct an examination or investigation of government policies based on a number of certain conditions that have been regulated in the constitution.
In that case, added Mahfud, the inquiry applied was not for the election, but for policies based on certain authorities.

As a constitutional law expert, Mahfud emphasized that the right of inquiry may be applied in parliament.
The former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs said that the right of inquiry is a matter of the DPR with political parties so that he as a vice presidential candidate does not have the authority to apply for the right of inquiry.
Even so, he also said that the right of inquiry would not affect the election results. In addition, the right of inquiry will also not change the KPU's decision or change the decision of the Constitutional Court which has its own path.
In a previous statement, presidential candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo encouraged his party to roll out the right of inquiry in the DPR on suspicion of fraud in the 2024 presidential election.
According to Ganjar, the right of inquiry which is the right of investigation by the DPR is one of the efforts that can be made to ask for information from the General Elections Commission (KPU) and the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) regarding the implementation of the 2024 presidential election.
