Ukrainian Ambassador: The World Society Is Very Strong To End The War
JAKARTA - The Ukrainian Ambassador to Indonesia Vasyl Hamianin expressed his belief that the international community has extraordinary power and can help stop the war. Moreover, what happened in Ukraine.
"The people of the world are very strong. They can end the war in a few days," Vasyl Hamianin quoted Antara as saying.
Vasyl said that the international community basically has tremendous power to help end the war that is taking place around the world, including the war that is taking place between Ukraine and Russia.
However, he underlined that the political will of each country, which is part of the international community, determines the level of support that can be given to a country that is being hit by war.
"Is it about whether you have a political will to do it? Do you want to (help) stop this war or not? Do you want to help people who suffer or not? So, just about that," he said again.
Two years after the start of Russia's military aggression against Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the situation in Ukraine is still volatile. Because of this, Ambassador Vasyl hopes that the war can end soon.
For this reason, he hopes that the international community can continue to provide support for the achievement of peace in Ukraine.
Vasyl said there are many things the international community can give to help the Ukrainian people in their fight against Russian aggression.
One form of support is moral support for the Ukrainian people.
"I'm not talking about two troops fighting. I'm talking about society, civilians, women, children living in impossible conditions," Vasyl said.
Another support that can be given is the need for the international community to help fight propaganda.
"Disrupt propaganda so that people know. If people know, the government knows, parliament knows, everyone knows, then aid will come," Vasyl said further.
Vasyl also underlined geopolitical instruments as one of the things that could help end the war in Ukraine.
"At a time when the UN was basically crippled by Russian veto rights, because they could do so, we had other instruments and other platforms like the G20 and a formula created by the president, which currently has withdrawn support from 83 countries," he said.
Vasyl hopes that Indonesia can participate in the forum in an effort to help end the war in Ukraine.
