Pre-Employment Program Continues In 2024, Government Aims For 1.15 Million Participants

JAKARTA - The Pre-Employment Card Program is targeted to provide training to 1.148 million participants in 2024.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto who is also the Chairman of the Job Creation Committee said that the Pre-Employment Card program needs to be carried out again this year because it has proven useful for the community to improve their abilities and get jobs.

"On February 23, 2024, a new wave of Pre-Employment recipients will be opened, namely Batch 63, with a participant target of 1.148 million throughout 2024. This quota will be executed in stages by the Implementing Management of the Pre-Employment Card Program (MPPKP)," said Airlangga Hartarto quoting Antara.

He said that the Definit study from ADB showed that the impact of participation in the Pre-Employment Card program on increasing job opportunities reached 95 percent.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Precision Research study revealed an increase in the income of Pre-Employment Card beneficiaries by 17-21 percent per month compared to non-receivers.

Regarding the implementation of this year's Pre-Employment Card, Airlangga stated that the program will be expanded so that it can reach more people in remote and underdeveloped areas and encourage the involvement of training institutions in more districts and cities.

In addition, he said that the quality of training will also be improved by increasing the mode of self-learning or Self-Paced Learning (SPL) which can provide flexibility, but also requires higher personal commitment from participants.

He hopes that the opportunity to upskill and reskill through the Pre-Employment Card program can be used as well as possible by the community.

Airlangga also said that his party would seek to cooperate with more parties, especially ministries/agencies (K/L), to provide various quality trainings relevant to the needs of the labor market.

He also invited various companies that have corporate universities to help build the Pre-Employment Card ecosystem.

"Let's collaborate to improve the quality of our workforce," he said.
