SAR Team Finds Dutch Tourist Ship Lost Contact In Labuan Bajo
WEST MANGGARAI - The joint SAR team managed to find a motorboat (KM) Marcopolo Green who lost contact while sailing from Labuan Bajo to Sape Port, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
"After receiving the information, we immediately alerted the West Manggarai SAR Post Rescue Team and elements of potential SAR and communicated to the ship's agent and KSOP Labuan Bajo," said Head of Basarnas Maumere Supriyanto Ridwan as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, February 22.
He explained that KM Marcopolo Green transported as many as 14 Dutch tourists and 1 domestic tourist.
"At around 06.51 WITA, we received information from KSOP Labuan Bajo that the Marcopolo Green ship was in a safe position and took shelter on Gili Lawa Island Labuan Bajo after experiencing bad weather and high waves during the voyage and was immediately deployed by the West Manggarai SAR Post Rescue Team to Gili Lawa Island using the West Manggarai SAR Post RIB to escort KM Marcopolo Green's voyage to Labuan Bajo," he explained.

He said that at 12.00 WITA KM Marcopolo Green together with dozens of tourists managed to dock at the Port of KSOP Labuan Bajo in good health and safety.
Regarding the chronology of the incident, KM Marcopolo Green on Wednesday (21/2/2024) at 12.00 WITA made a voyage from Labuan Bajo to Komodo Island on the final route at Sape Port, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
"However, due to bad weather and high waves, the ship took refuge in the waters of Gili Lawa Island, West Manggarai Regency," he said.
