Sold For Nearly Rp600 Million, This Is The 1987 Harley-Davidson Softail Custom Owned By Former Journey Vocalist Steve Perry

JAKARTA - Rock music lovers must be familiar with Stephen Ray Perry, the frontman of the successful rock band Journey between 1977 and 1987. Recently, the 1987 Harley-Davidson Softail Custom classic motorcycle that Steve Perry once owned was sold through online tender Bring A Trailer on Wednesday, February 21. Interestingly, this bike is rarely used and has only traveled 896 km on the odometer.

This Custom Softail heart is an 82ci Evolution V-twin machine combined with a gearbox of five accelerations, producing a responsive power and a distinctive Harley noise that is fierce. The engine performance is supported by a 38mm carburetor with an acceleration pump, V-Fire III electronic fusion modules, electric starters, and custom chromo double exhaust with a Slash-cut muffler. The carburetor has been cleared before auctioning for smooth operation.

This motorbike comes with Vivid Black colors decorated with red stripping and red-gold scrollwork graphics. Other features include Fat Bob 5.2 gallons of fuel tanks, BOBbed rear bikes, Le Peramen's seat for two people, Krom-coated back support, chrom oil tank, rear sepatbor buffer, and baggage rack, adding to the classic and elegant impression.

There are also front foot control, foot peg passengers folding, and side standards. Chrom kits are equipped with double billet mirrors and eyedrop-shaped sein lights. The analog instrument panel features a 120 mph speedometer, indicator lights, and switchlars.

Front dispensation uses Showa's telescopic fork, while the back suspension relies on a triangular swing arm connected to a pair of hidden gas shockbreakers under transmission. The braking is done by a four-piston caliper with an 11.5" disk on both wheels.

The main uniqueness of this bike was of course the previous ownership by Steve Perry, documented with a California certificate in its name. With maintained conditions, low distance, and high historical value, Steve Perry's 1987 Harley-Davidson Softail Custom has attracted collectors and classic motorcycle enthusiasts and is no wonder it sold 37,500 US dollars or equivalent to Rp586 million.
