Having Problem In Engine Sensor, Boeing 777 Performs An Emergency Landing In Moscow

JAKARTA - A Boeing 777 cargo plane from the airline Rossiya Airlines performed an emergency landing at Sheremetyevo Airport, Moscow, Russia, on Friday, February 26, after experiencing problems with engine control sensors.

Flight 4520 Rossiya Airlines was about to travel from Hong Kong to Madrid, and landed in Moscow at 4:44 a.m. local time (or 08.44 a.m. Indonesian Time), according to the tracking website FlightRadar24.

Rossiya Airlines, a unit under state airline Aeroflot, said their crew requested a landing at the airline's headquarters airport in Moscow.

"The landing proceeded normally", said the airline in a statement quoted by Reuter from Antara. And flights to Madrid will resume after 09.00 a.m. GMT (or 16.00 p.m. Indonesian Time) on the same day.

The 777-300ER is 15 years old, according to FlightRadar24 data, which means it uses engines from General Electric (GE).

The engine is different from the Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engine, which is now under examination after the United Airlines 777 engine fire case, Saturday (20/2), which forced the suspension of aircraft operations with this engine.

General Electric has yet to provide information on the case this Friday.

Russian airlines operate Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with General Electric GE90-115B engines, according to Russia's federal aviation agency, Rosaviatsiya, Wednesday, February 24.

The authority added that it had no consideration of suspending the operations of the planes.
