China Values Indonesia's Elections Runs Successfully

JAKARTA - The Chinese government assesses that the 2024 General Election on February 14, 2024 in Indonesia will run smoothly and successfully.

"We congratulate Indonesia on holding a smooth and successful election," said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning when delivering a statement to the media in Beijing, China as reported by ANTARA, Monday, February 19.

Mao Ning also referred to Indonesia as a friendly neighboring China.

"We believe that the choice of the Indonesian people is a choice for the benefit of the future and the welfare of the country," added Mao Ning.

China, said Mao Ning, is trying to continue to work with Indonesia by sticking to the main theme, namely building a community with a common future.

"Also establishing mutual trust, deepening strategic cooperation in all fields and encouraging the growth of China-Indonesia relations that are sustainable, healthy and stable so as to provide greater benefits for the two nations," said Mao Ning.

Earlier on Sunday (18/2), Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Lu Kang had also congratulated presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto at Prabowo's residence on Jalan Kertanegara, South Jakarta.

In the vote in Beijing, pair number 02 Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka also won with 271 votes followed by pair number 03 Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD (178 votes) and pair number 01 Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar (82 votes).

Based on the total ballots that have been submitted to the calculation or real count of the Indonesian KPU, it has reached 71.74 percent.

Based on monitoring on the 2024.kpu.go.id election website, Monday (19/2), data as of 21.00 WIB the number of incoming votes was 590,579 polling stations from 823,236 polling stations.
