AirAsia Explains The Incident Of The Airplane Slipping In Labuan Bajo

LABUAN BAJO - AirAsia aircraft with flight number QZ 860 on the Jakarta-Labuan Bajo route experienced an incident of plane wheels leaving the lane during the exit taxiway after landing perfectly at Komodo Labuan Bajo Airport, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province.

"The flight carrying 151 passengers landed at 10.20 WITA. The entire crew and passengers were confirmed safe and all of them have been successfully evacuated," said Public Relations & Communication of Indonesia Manager AirAsia Ageng Wibowo Leksono as reported by ANTARA, Monday, February 19.

Currently, he continued, the plane has been successfully evacuated and has entered the parking area of B2 Komodo Labuan Bajo Airport.

"The evacuation process lasted about 50 minutes. The runway situation has been cleared and can operate normally," he said.

Further investigation into this incident, he continued, is also being carried out by the Indonesian AirAsia team together with the Komodo Labuan Bajo Airport authorities.

With this incident, making the next flight route QZ 861, the Labuan Bajo - Jakarta route was forced to delay flights (delays) for several hours.

"In this regard, Indonesia AirAsia ensures that passengers receive compensation for delays in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation (Permenhub) Number 89 of 2015 concerning the Handling of the Suspension of Indonesian Aviation AirAsia in collaboration with relevant authorities and ensuring appropriate improvement steps to be carried out carefully. Indonesia AirAsia also continues to strive to achieve the highest safety standards in all operations and will continue to monitor this situation to provide information periodically," he said.

Separately, the Head of the Komodo Labuan Bajo Airport Organizing Unit (UPBU), Ceppy Triono, said the Air Asia plane experienced a taxiway outburst or an airplane out of the existing taxiway lane markings.

"The plane after landing and being on a taxi (walk) to the apron when it was on the taxiway playing landing gear (board of the plane) on the right turned out to exceed the mark on the edge of the taxiway so that it fell," he said confirmed in Labuan Bajo.

According to him, steps have been taken according to the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) and all passengers have been dispatched and the plane can safely fly to the apron.

"The airport operation is running normally," he said.
