PDIP Denies Invited By PSI To Discuss Anies's Interpellation Proposal Regarding Floods
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) faction claims to have invited other party factions in the DKI DPRD to submit a proposal for the right of interpellation addressed to the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan.
The right of interpellation in this case is a request for information from the governor regarding the flood control program which has a broad impact on people's lives.
However, member of the PDI-P faction at the DPRD DKI Gilbert Simanjuntak denied that PSI had invited other parties to agree to the interpellation proposal.
"Those 8 people (members of the PSI faction) did not invite other factions to discuss interpellation," said Gilbert when contacted, Friday, February 26.
Gilbert admitted that he was embarrassed by the attitude of the PSI, which earlier presented the interpellation proposal to the public compared to the internal members of the Kebon Sirih parliament.
"We see PSI communication as arrogant. It seems that they do not understand how the interpellation mechanism is and do not understand how to communicate with others. How come we have to hear from the media about this? Even though we are both in the DPRD," said Gilbert.
If later PSI invites PDIP to initiate interpellation, Gilbert admits that his party will not necessarily agree.
"Of course we have to learn why PSI is asking now, right now, COVID-19 and floods. It seems urgent, even though the problem we are going to ask is unclear. Interpellation is not that simple," he explained.
Previously, Deputy Chairperson of the PSI DPRD DKI Fraction Justin Untayana said that his party had submitted the right to interpellation regarding the Jakarta floods to the DPRD leadership. If it happens, Anies must explain the causes of the flooding problem that occurred.
"We take this interpellation as the last constitutional way. This is PSI's moral and political responsibility towards the citizens of Jakarta, especially those who were harmed by the floods due to the failure and lack of seriousness of Governor Anies in managing flood management, ”said Justin.
The condition is that interpellation is proposed by at least 15 DPRD members and more than one faction. Justin admitted that he had "lobbied" other party factions to plan an interpellation meeting.
Justin is confident that a number of factions they spoke to also agree with the agenda. "We are sure other parties also admit that the governor's handling of floods is still not optimal," said Justin.
"For parties that have similar views, we hope this can be a strong joint movement in the DPRD. We ask for a clear explanation from the Governor. We have launched this right of interpellation for the sake of humanity and social justice for all Jakarta citizens," he continued.
