KPU: Sirekap Data Postponed Due To Voice Number Synchronization

JAKARTA - Member of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Idham Holik said the data displayed by Sirekap on the KPU's official website was delayed because officers were synchronizing the number of votes.

This is the reason that the data displayed by Sirekap on the official KPU website did not change on Sunday (18/2).

"His attitude is because he is being curated so that the process runs smoothly, so for the time being his public appearance is still using the last display yesterday the day after tomorrow," said Idham as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 19.

According to Idham, the voice synchronization process must be carried out so that the data recorded in Sirekap is accurate. Thus, the public can get accurate vote acquisition information from the official KPU website.

He also admitted that there were several obstacles experienced by sub-district administrators (PPK) when entering data into Sirekap.

One of them is that the number written hand on the form C cannot be clearly recorded by the KPU's camera technology.

Sirekap is known to use optical sign recognition technology (optical mark recognition, OMR) and optical character recognition (optical character character recognition, OCR).

The technology allows to recognize manual writing patterns and can be translated as a number value. Thus, numbers in the form of writing can be photographed and directly converted into numerical data in Sirekap.

"So, for example, the number 3 reads 8, that's what is curated to 3. For example, the number 2 reads 7, that's what is curated to 2," explained Idham.

Although the data synchronization process to Sirekap was delayed, he ensured that the vote recapitulation process in all polling stations (TPS) was not delayed.

The recapitulation process carried out by PPK is still ongoing in several major cities, including Jakarta.

"He said (PPK, red) yesterday the recapitulation in Jakarta continued and many areas took place and even yesterday there were 33 sub-districts that completed the recapitulation," he explained.
