Submit To DMA Policy, Epic Games Store And Fortnite Back To IOS

JAKARTA - After Apple restored its developer account, Epic Games announced its plans to bring Epic Games Store to iOS in the European Union in 2024.

"We have received Apple's Developer Account and will soon begin developing the Epic Games Store on iOS thanks to the new Digital Market Act (DMA)," Epic Games said in its official announcement, quoted on Sunday, February 18.

Thus, this will provide a way for the Epic Games to bring back the Fortnite app to iOS. Fortnite will return to iOS in Europe in 2024, distributed @EpicGames Store which is coming to iOS,' added the company.

Previously, Fortnite was removed from the iOS App Store at the start of Epic Games vs. Apple's 2020 feud, where Epic inserted an in-app purchase option into Fortnite to avoid payment systems on the App Store.

In his post on X, Epic Games CEO Tim happened to say, 'I will be the first to acknowledge good faith moves by Apple amid an antitrust battle, in providing Epic Games Sweden AB's Epic Store and Fortnite developer accounts in Europe under the Digital Market Act.'

Because based on DMA, Apple has to open iOS to third-party stores, including the Epic Games Store. This news follows Apple's confirmation last January, where they agreed to comply with EU regulations.
