Argo Semeru Train Drops In Wates, This Is KNKT's Recommendation To The Ministry Of Transportation And KAI
JAKARTA - The National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) gave a number of recommendations to the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI related to the drop in Argo Semeru's train and was hit by Argo Wilis in Wates, Kulonprogro, on October 17, 2023.
KNKT Railway Accident Investment Investigator, Riduan Akbar said, from the results of the investigation and analysis, the NTSC compiled recommendations addressed to the Directorate General of Railways to evaluate and increase supervision of inspection procedures.
"As well as maintenance of railway infrastructure and ensuring gap distance in the installation of all rail connections meet the requirements required in technical specifications," he said at a press conference at the KNKT Office, Jakarta, Friday, February 16.
In addition to DJKA Kemenhub, Riduan said the NTSC also submitted recommendations to PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) to review the preparation of train travel operational procedures.
Riduan said this was necessary so that the Control Center had the authority to temporarily suspend all train leasing which would pass a certain rail road location if at the location of the rail road previously there were reports of strong seesaw conditions on the rail road.
"Immediately carry out inspections and repairs at the location of the rail road further by the rail and bridge road units to the rail roads that will be passed by the train are declared safe," he explained.

Furthermore, continued Riduan, KAI is also recommended to conduct a review and re-evaluation of the procedures for inspection and rail road maintenance.
"Ensuring the scientific or fundamental basic philosophy of all rail road inspection and maintenance activities provided at the training sat to be thoroughly understood by all examining officers and maintenance of railway infrastructure," he said.
