Police Arrest 5 Youths Perpetrators Of Persecution Of Drivers To Death In Situbondo

SITUBONDO - The Situbondo Resort Police Criminal Investigation Unit, East Java, arrested five youths suspected of molesting a truck driver from West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, until the victim died.

Head of the Situbondo Police Satreskrim AKPMomon Suwito Pratomo said an interprovincial truck driver named Bahraendra (50), a resident of West Lombok Regency, died after being persecuted by several youths from Arjasa Village/Sub-district, Situbondo, in the early hours of Thursday (15/2).

The victim died on the way to the Abdoer Rachem Regional General Hospital, Situbondo.

"Our members have arrested five people who are suspected of beating truck drivers on the Situbondo northern coast route. Currently, investigators are still investigating," said AKP Momon as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, February 16.

According to him, the five youths suspected of being the perpetrators of the truck driver were arrested at their respective homes in Arjasa Village/District on Friday (16/2) in the early hours of the morning.

Although the data on the perpetrators of the persecution was minimal, the Situbondo Police Resmob Team managed to arrest the alleged perpetrator after conducting an investigation and obtaining information from witnesses.

"Five perpetrators were arrested with the initials KS, A, MA, MJF, and DC, with only one key witness," said Momon.

The five suspected perpetrators are now undergoing examination to find out the mastermind of the abuse that resulted in the death of the driver from Lombok.

In addition to arresting the perpetrators, the police also secured evidence in the form of two motorbikes used by the perpetrators.

"The results of the provisional statements of the five alleged perpetrators, not all of them carried out beatings and it was done using their bare hands," he said.

Based on witness testimony, the beating was carried out when the truck driver overtook the car in front of him and passed five young men riding motorbikes from the opposite direction.

"This truck overtook the car in front of it and ate a narrow road so that the motorbike the perpetrator was driving got down to the shoulder of the road. Not accepting this, the perpetrator chased and stopped the victim's truck," he said.

When the truck stopped and the driver got off, the perpetrators immediately carried out the persecution until the driver suffered a wound on his face and fainted.

"The truck driver was taken to the Abdoer Rahem Situbondo Hospital for medical treatment, but the victim has been declared dead," said AKP Momon.

The victim's body has been picked up by the family to be buried in his hometown, Jerneng Hamlet, Bagik Polak Barat Village, Labuapi District, West Lombok Regency.
