A Number Of Election TPS In East Jakarta Were Submerged By Floods Due To Rainy Rain, Officers: Water Suction Is Still Ongoing

JAKARTA - A number of polling stations (TPS) for the 2024 General Election in East Jakarta were flooded after being hit by heavy rains on Wednesday, February 14.

Based on data from the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept., the TPS that experienced flooding was at TPS 158, TPS 159 and TPS 160 in RW 09, Cakung Timur Village, Cakung District, East Jakarta.

The height of the flood that inundated the TPS is around 60 Cm. As well as TPS 68 which is located on Jalan Waru No. 20b Rawamangun Village, Pulogadung District, East Jakarta is also inundated.

Head of the Operational Section of the East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Gatot Sulaeman, said that a number of polling stations were located in residential areas of Cempaka VI Street, RT 08/RW 09, East Cakung.

"The water level is about 60 centimeters. For handling, we have deployed a quick response car and four personnel to the location. We will start handling it from 06.40 WIB," said Gatot when confirmed, Wednesday, February 14.

Not only in Cakung District, floods with a height of about 60 centimeters also submerged TPS 68 on Jalan Waru, Rawamangun Village, Pulogadung District.

However, Gatot said that after the suction process by deploying a quick response unit which had been carried out since 06.30 WIB the water level on road access and TPS had now gradually receded.

"The suction is still ongoing. The water level is now receding, the rest is around the legs of adults," he said.

Head of Cakung Sub-district, Fajar Eko Satrio, said that the polling stations in his residential areas were flooded due to the heavy rain discharge that was not accommodated in residential waterways.

"The reason is that the water channel has overflowed. The temporary TPS has not been moved," he said.
