Disjaya's Electricity Growth Target This Year Is 2.5 Percent
JAKARTA - PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) Distribution Jakarta Raya targets electricity growth in Jakarta this year to return to positive.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, electricity consumption in Jakarta has decreased. Electricity consumption was minus 5.6 percent in 2020 yesterday. General Manager of PLN Disjaya Doddy Pangaribuan is confident that along with the economic recovery, electricity consumption will increase.
"This year, we project electricity growth in Jakarta to reach 2.5 percent. We contribute 70 percent of total electricity sales in Indonesia," said Doddy at a press conference, Thursday, February 25.
Then, he said, this was supported by the government's projection of economic growth which could rebound back to 4 percent. "If growth is as predicted, well, our experience is that in electricity it can grow 3-4 percent. Hopefully so. We just pray for the best," added Doddy.
To be able to boost electricity consumption, Doddy explained that the strengthening of people's lifestyle by using an electricity basis is strongly encouraged by PLN. Such as the use of electric stoves, electric vehicles and also the increasing use of SPKLU.
"It doesn't feel direct and big yet. But we continue to do these efforts," said Doddy.
In addition, in the industrial and business sectors, Doddy said that PLN will continue to carry out promotions so that the industrial and business sectors can increase their consumption. Also the use of PLNn electricity, which has sometimes not been maximally used.
"We are also trying to persuade several large consumers who still use PLTG during the daytime, use PLN at night and vice versa. We just want to take it from PLN," said Doddy.
