Strong Winds Hit Weh Island Aceh, Fallen Trees Close A Number Of Main Roads

Strong winds hit Weh Island in Aceh causing a number of trees to fall on Monday, February 12. A number of major road access points in the tourist area have become closed, triggering total traffic jams.

He explained that the strong winds in Sabang City not only caused trees to fall at a number of points, but also caused the roof of one unit of a resident's house to collapse by the wind.

According to him, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Sabang City received information on strong winds and fallen trees at around 13.30 WIB, with the condition that the tree had covered the road in a number of locations, causing long traffic jams.

After receiving information, the Sabang City BPBD officers rushed to the field to help and clean up fallen tree materials, as well as to provide panic assistance for victims of houses damaged by strong winds.

The locations of fallen trees include Jurong Lhok Igeu, Gampong (Village) Dot Bau, Sukajaya District, as well as three locations in Sukamakmue District, namely Cot Murong Gampong Bate Shok, 'Phanton Gampong Bate Shok, and Tangkakan Gapang Gampong Iboih.

Meanwhile, the roof of a resident's house that collapsed was hit by strong winds in Jurong Blang Garot, Gampong Paya Senara, Sukamakmue District. The house belongs to Nuraini (48).

According to information from the BMKG of Sabang City, he said, the weather forecast per day in the Sabang area was rainy, with wind speeds of 15-50 kilometers per hour to the northeast.
