Joko Tjandra Admits That Rahmat's Entrepreneur Had Invited Him To Meet Ma'ruf Amin
JAKARTA - Joko Tjandra admitted that he was invited by a businessman named Rahmat to meet with Vice President Ma'ruf Amin in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This was conveyed by Joko Tjandra during the trial to examine the defendant.
Joko Tjandra's confession emerged when the prosecutor asked his relationship with Rahmat, who was also a witness in this case. Then, the prosecutor's question led to the question of whether or not he ever told him about the legal problems he was going through.
"Did you tell Rahmat about legal matters?" asked the prosecutor during a trial at the Corruption Court, Central Jakarta, Thursday, February 25.
Then, Joko Tjandra answered that he had never told anyone about his legal problems, including Rahmat. Because, he assumed that Rahmat already knew about it.
"I never conveyed it but they know," he said.
Then, Joko Tjandra suddenly mentioned Rahmat, who had invited him to meet Ma'ruf Amin. The invitation was conveyed by Rahmat by telephone.
"He (Rahmat) called me, (said) 'Pak Joko we want to go to Malaysia because there is a work visit'. He said Mr. Kyai, his call was going to Kuala Lumpur, which is now our Vice President, going to KL," said Joko. .
However, the meeting was canceled. This is because Joko heard that Ma'ruf Amin's work visit was canceled. The reason was that Ma'ruf Amin's physical condition was not good at that time.
"I said oh happily, (for) the time was not determined when, I heard that he was not feeling well so he didn't come," he continued.
As for the previous trial, Rahmat revealed that he was close to Ma'ruf Amin.
"I used to be close to Pak Ma'ruf Amin, I always went with him together," said Rahmat during a trial at the Corruption Court, Central Jakarta, Monday, November 9.
Rahmat said that his closeness had been established before Ma'ruf Amin served as Vice President. At that time Ma'ruf Amin was still Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI)
