Papuans Asked Not To Be Provoked By The Threat Of A Boycott Of The Election

JAYAPURA - Papuan traditional leaders invite the local community not to be provoked by the threat of a boycott of the General Election (Pemilu) because the democratic party is once a year apart from advancing the Earth of Cenderawasih.

Papuan Traditional Leader Max Ohe said the 2024 election for Papuans, both old, young, and female, involved a lot of themselves in running as legislative candidates (Caleg) for the DPR, both districts, cities, provinces and the center.

"For this reason, the legislative candidates need to be given appreciation for their participation in bringing goodness for the progress of Papua's land," said Max, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, February 11.

According to Max, traditional life is not something that limits the progress process for its adherents but as Papuans who are close to traditional life, it is also necessary to participate in the success of the 2024 election.

"Of course this is done for the future of Papua, it is better for that if there are groups or parties who refuse to hold elections (election boycotts), they are the ones who can harm Papuan land," he said.

He explained, by participating in the democratic party, he made the choice to advance the land of Papua.

"Therefore, let's take advantage of the election momentum as well as possible by growing enthusiasm to pick up welfare," he said again.

Meanwhile, Papua Police Chief Inspector General Pol Mathius Fakhiri said his party had held various activities in the context of the 2023-2024 cooling system in the form of KKR in several regencies and cities, Cross Religion Prayers, Friday and Sunday blessings where this activity was carried out to build unity and integrity.

"In addition, this activity is carried out so that the election can run peacefully, coolly, there will be no polarization, no hoax news and sara issues as well as various forms of black campaign action," he said.
