KSP Emphasizes The Importance Of Health Screening For Election Officers

JAKARTA - Implementation of Health History Screening and Optimization of National Health Insurance Participation (JKN) for Election officers, not only to ensure that the 2024 General Election runs smoothly. But it is also an acceleration step to capture national health protection.

Deputy II of the Presidential Chief of Staff, Abetnego Tarigan, said that the number of election officers who reached 9 million more represents a significant proportion of the Indonesian population. Moreover, Election officers come from various regions and demographic groups in Indonesia. So that the overall data obtained from screening can provide a fairly accurate picture of public health as a whole.

"Health screening for election officers initiated by BPJS Kesehatan raises the promotive and preventive spirit of handling Indonesian diseases," said Deputy II of the Presidential Chief of Staff, Abetnego Tarigan, in Jakarta, Saturday, February 10.

According to Abetnego, health data obtained from the screening results of the medical history of election officials can be integrated with the national health information system, so that it can be used for various purposes, such as research, policy planning, and public health monitoring.

In the context of holding the election, he continued, screening of this medical history is an anticipatory step to prevent the fall of victims from election officials considering the workload on voting day and the recapitulation of votes is quite high. The case of election organizers who were sick and died in 2019 has become a political issue. Of course we don't want this incident to happen again," he said.

The Deputy for Human Resources Development at the Presidential Staff Office, welcomed the enthusiasm of Election officers in the regions to provide online health history screening. He gave an example of election officers in North Sumatra. From the results of field verification on Wednesday (7/2), he explained, there were already 85,000 officers who filled out health history screening. Of these, 92.96% of them are not at risk of health.

"Of course we hope that all parties involved can support this health screening program for the common good," he said.

For information, previously the Presidential Staff Office together with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health, BPJS Health, General Elections Commission (KPU), and the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) verified the field implementation of Joint Circular (SEB) on the Implementation of Health History Screening and Optimization of JKN Participants for Election Officers and 2024 Pilkada in several regions. Namely, East Java, West Java, and North Sumatra.

This field verification is to ensure that the implementation of health history screening and optimization of JKN participation for Election officers in the regions is really running.
