The Minister Of Transportation Wants The Management Of The Indonesian Port To Learn From Laem Chabang Thailand
JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi wants port management in Indonesia to learn from ports in other countries. This is to create a world-class port that can compete in the international world.
The Minister of Transportation said that one of the ports is good for example, namely Laem Chabang Port, Thailand.
"We learned a lot here (Laem Chabang Port) because this is a port that was designed and built with a total of 14 million TEUs (20 feet of container)," said the Minister of Transportation quoting Antara.
The Minister of Transportation said that as a country with more than 17,000 islands, ports are one of the most important things that must be managed properly in Indonesia. Ports, he said, are not only for community connectivity but also for logistics connectivity.
According to him, the Port of Laem Chabang is an example of how successful it can be managed properly.
"This is a port that was moved from Bangkok here. Bangkok must create traffic jams, therefore all import exports are all brought to Laem Chabang. Today, we are grateful and we have a good example of how to manage a terminal and with many partners from several companies," he said.
