Ahok Asks Kupang Residents To Choose Leaders Without Pressure
JAKARTA - Former Governor of DKI Jakarta Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) asked the people of Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) to choose a leader without any pressure in the 2024 General Election.
Ahok emphasized this during his visit to Kupang City and held a national dialogue with the local community.
"I went to Kupang to stay in touch and want to make sure the public can dare to determine their voting rights, because this election is direct, public, free, confidential, there should be no pressure from anyone, coercion from anyone," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 7.
In front of the people of Kupang City, Ahok emphasized that his visit to Kupang City was not to campaign because he was not part of the timses. The goal of going to Kupang is to stay in touch with the community, including visiting the church.
While visiting the church, Ahok had a dialogue with synodes and the public so that they would not be consumed by issues that divide brotherhood.
Reflecting on the experience of previous election years, said Ahok, friendship and brotherhood were broken due to differences of choice.
Therefore, the church must dare to express truth and justice in choosing according to conscience.
Ahok also hopes that the public as voters will not be fooled by the game.
"Let the people choose with conscience, there should be no insulation that makes the people choose the wrong choice," he said.

In the national dialogue in front of the community, Ahok received two questions from the residents of Kupang City about how to choose a good and right leader.
He also returned the choice to the residents because according to him the public had watched the debate from the candidates for leaders for the next five years.
"The decision is with you and mother," he advised.
