The National Police Ensures That Aminggaru Ilaga Airport Condition Papua Is Safe After The Smart Air Plane Slipped

JAKARTA - The Papua Regional Police (Polda) ensured that the situation and conditions at Aminggaru Airport were safe after the PK-SNJ Smart Air plane crash carrying 12 passengers turned off the runway.

The Head of the Puncak Police, Kompol I Nyoman Punia, explained that at the time of the incident, residents and security forces ran to the plane to help evacuate passengers and crew.

"Currently, the situation at the airport is safe and smooth," said Punia in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 5.

After the accident and evacuation, coordination was carried out with the airline and related parties for further steps to prevent similar incidents from happening again in the future.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Iantius Benny Ady Prabowo, said that the Smart Air plane crash with registration for PK-SNJ occurred this morning at around 07.31 WIT at Aminggaru Airport, Ilaga District, Puncak Regency, Central Papua.

"It is certain that the 12 passengers were safe from the incident," said Benny.

Chronologically of the accident, when the plane took off (runoff) from Mozes Kilangin Timika Airport, the weather conditions had no problems, nor did during the flight, there were no weather disturbances.

However, a few days earlier, the weather in the Puncak Regency experienced extreme weather.

When the plane was about to go to the apron or parking lot, the brakes failed on the right rear wheel which caused the plane to spontaneously turn left, exit the runway or runway, then hit the airport fence.

As a result of the incident, some of the fuselage emitted smoke. There were no casualties in this incident. All passengers and pilot planes were successfully evacuated by officers assisted by residents.
