380 Police Alerted To Secure Elections At Timor Leste Border

The Belu Police, East Nusa Tenggara Police deployed 380 personnel to help secure the implementation of the 2024 Simultaneous Election in an area bordering the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste (RDTL).

"We have prepared 380 personnel. All of them are from the Belu Police," said Belu Police Chief AKBP Richo Simanjuntak, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, February 2.

This was conveyed in relation to the readiness of the local police to secure the implementation of the 2024 Simultaneous Elections on February 14.

He said that the number included 247 personnel assigned to escort approximately 600 polling stations (TPS) spread across 12 sub-districts in the area.

Richo said that until now the security situation and conditions in the border area are conducive.

"We hope that this situation will be maintained until the election is over," he said.

Richo added that to ensure that the situation in Belu Regency is under control, his party is currently increasing patrols in the area, especially in Atambua City.

The implementation of patrols from the previous week has only been carried out twice every day, to ensure that the border area remains safe.

Furthermore, Richo emphasized that in every apple he always emphasized that no personnel should be involved as supporters of one of the presidential and vice presidential pairs and candidates.

Not only that, in terms of escorting logistics distribution, he has also conveyed to his personnel not to be directly involved during logistics transportation.

"The task of the police is only to guard it, no more than that, because if it will not be perceived in various ways by certain parties. Therefore, I have conveyed that the personnel guarding it and when it is sufficient to monitor the process," he said.
