Jokowi Still Kunker In Yogyakarta, Palace Has Not Confirmed Being Able To Meet Mahfud MD

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo respects Mohammad Mahfud Md's wish to directly submit his resignation letter as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs to him."We respect Pak Mahfud's desire to meet with the President because Mr. Mahfud said that he wanted to directly convey the resignation letter to the president,” said Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, January 31.However, Ari admitted that he did not know when Mahfud would be able to meet President Jokowi because the President was still on a working visit to Yogyakarta until Thursday. Meanwhile, Mahfud is known to be still busy with the presidential election campaign agenda in the regions."Not (knowing) because Mr. Mahfud also has an agenda. Today he is in Lampung, maybe after that there are other agendas. Of course, he also adjusts to Pak Mahfud's campaign agenda. The President will also return (to Jakarta) only tomorrow night," explained Ari.He said that Mahfud's request to submit the resignation letter directly was certainly known to President Jokowi because the announcement of his resignation was delivered through publications in the mass media as well as social media."Of course this wish is known (President Jokowi) because it is widely published and is currently also conveyed by Mr. Mahfud himself. However, as I said earlier, the President certainly respects Pak Mahfud's desire to directly submit the resignation letter," he said.Mahfud Md announced his resignation from the position of Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Wednesday. The resignation was related to the 2024 presidential election contestation because Mahfud Md was the number 3 vice presidential candidate accompanying presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo.In his statement, Mahfud said that the resignation letter would be submitted directly as soon as he got a schedule to meet with President Jokowi.Mahfud estimates that the resignation letter will be submitted on Thursday (1/2). "And this letter will be submitted as soon as I get a schedule meeting with the President (Jokowi), but I will continue to bring it because this letter is indeed as soon as I am given the direct time I convey it," he said.
Mahfud also said that his resignation from the position of Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs had been agreed upon by the presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo and all political parties that carried the Ganjar-Mahfud pair.
