Batam Customs Thwarts Methamphetamine Smuggling In Foreigners' Awards
Batam Customs Officer, Riau Islands, thwarted the smuggling of methamphetamine with a gross weight of 1,399.26 grams carried by foreign nationals (WNA) who came to Batam using the MV Dolphin 01 Ship from the Seabone, Malaysia.
Head of Batam Customs Compliance and Information Service, M. Rizki Baidilah, said the methamphetamine-type narcotics were thwarted by the smuggling in two different locations.
"Synergy together with the Riau Islands Regional Police have succeeded in dismantling smuggling efforts in two ports, namely at the Batam Center International Ferry Port and Sekupang Domestic Port," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 30.
Dai said the two perpetrators, namely KFH and AM, acted as couriers. KFH is a foreigner who came to Batam on the MV Dolphin 01 ship from Tulang Laut, Malaysia on Monday (15/1).
The K-9 KPU BC Batam team conducted an inspection of the ship's passengers. During the tracking, one of the passengers (KFH) responded, so further inspection was carried out.
"After an examination was carried out, including the rectum, the suspect finally admitted that he brought methamphetamine with an inserter mode (inputting goods in the anus). The officer took the suspect to Awal Bros Hospital for x-rays and the doctor stated that there was an allineum company (there was a foreign object in the body). Finally, the suspect was taken to the BC Batam KPU for expenses from inside the anus," he said.
Meanwhile, AM is an Indonesian citizen who will travel to Karimun via the Sekupang Domestic Port on Thursday (11/1).
He explained that from the imagexray, it was seen that the crystallographic items were suspected of being methamphetamine, but the confession from AM was tawas.
