JAKARTA - Presidential Candidate Anies Baswedan promised to prioritize access to education for the northern coastal area (Pantura) of Java while campaigning in front of thousands of sympathizers who packed the Kalisoga Padepokan, Brebes, Central Java.
"Why is education important? Because it can open up extraordinary opportunities to anyone who access it," Anies said in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 30.
Anies gave an example of the figure of Sudirman Said who is a farm laborer. However, thanks to the education concerned, it is able to become established and can now contribute greatly to the surrounding community.
"Pak Sudirman Said is an example of how children from the northern coastal area get education as socio-economic escalators so that now he can provide great benefits for the community," he explained.
The Governor of DKI Jakarta for the 2017 '2022 period also revealed that the potential and abilities of Indonesian children are actually extraordinary. However, because they did not meet the opportunity, it was difficult for them to develop and one form of opportunity was affordable education for all.
