Before Winning In The FA Cup, Man City Overshadowed Can't Beat Tottenham

JAKARTA - Manchester City was overshadowed by not being able to beat Tottenham Hotspur when the two teams met in the fourth round of the FA Cup. The reason is, Man City has a bad record of being able to visit Tottenham's headquarters in North London.

That concern almost became a reality in the big match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Saturday, January 27, 2024 in the morning WIB. The record of never winning in five games at Tottenham overshadows Kevin De Bruyne et al.

How not, Man City showed dominance but had difficulty scoring goals. Oscar striker Bobb had time to bring Man City ahead. But the goal was disallowed.

Defender Nathan Ake finally managed to break the deadlock. This Dutch national team player broke into the host's goal when the game had two minutes remaining normal time.

Hanya, gol itu dinilai kontroversial. Karena-garanya, Ruben Dias dianggap melakukan pelanggaran terhadap kiper Guglielmo Vicario sebelum diciplinya gol. Namun wasit tak menganggap sebagai pelanggaran. Begitu pula review lewat VAR menguat keputusan wasit.

The 1-0 victory did not only pass Man City to the fifth round or the last 16. But the Cityzens were able to break the record of never winning.

And, Ake's goal was Man City's first at Tottenham's home for the past six games.

"We remain confident in how we play [even though we never score]. We created many chances and are still confident that we will qualify even though we have not been able to score goals," said Ake.

"I did think it was difficult to create until we finally did it. I am very happy. This is a match that is not easy but we played well throughout the match," he said again.

The victory keeps Man City's chances of winning treble again. The team managed to qualify for the last 16 of the FA Cup and still remains in the Champions League. They are also ranked second in the English Premier League standings under Liverpool.

"It is important for us to qualify for the next round. If possible, we want to continue in every competition," said Ake again.
