Ganjar Supports Mahfud To Leave Jokowi's Cabinet Immediately: Will Be An Example For Others
LABUAN BAJO - presidential candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo supports the plan of his vice presidential candidate Mahfud MD to resign from the position of Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.
"I fully support it, because this will be an example for others," said Ganjar at the Golo Dukal Stadium, Langke Rembong, Manggarai, NTT, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, January 26.
He said Mahfud's decision to resign had been discussed together. Ganjar also respects Mahfud's decision.
"Yes, we have discussed together and actually it has been a long time and I respect him, the real respect for him," he said.
In addition, Ganjar revealed that the decision to resign had been a plan for a long time. He assessed that Mahfud is currently waiting for the right moment to submit his resignation.
"Actually, it wasn't yesterday, but he said (to resign) for a long time and he will prepare those things at the right moment," explained Ganjar.
The former governor of Central Java said that currently Mahfud is still completing his duties. Ganjar also hopes that the tasks can be completed by Mahfud soon.
"I know exactly that he still has a lot of homework to convey because some important things that are now in his work have the authority to be completed," said Ganjar.
"Hopefully soon, when it's finished he will immediately make a decision," he continued.
Mahfud MD previously said that he had long planned to resign from the position of Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.
"I plan to resign for a long time when the first debate starts," said Mahfud Md. after the discussion on Collis Prof in Semarang, Central Java, Tuesday night.
If he is no longer a minister, Mahfud feels that he can more freely open and read data because he is no longer in government.
However, he said, he then considered several things, namely ethics to President Joko Widodo who had appointed him as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.
Mahfud continued, "And I have to prepare myself well because I will be with another people's presidential candidate, his name is Pak Ganjar Pranowo."

The second consideration, he said, was that during his time as a vice presidential candidate, he had never used any state facilities for campaign purposes.
"As a minister who is a candidate, I do not even use state facilities for campaign purposes," he said.
In addition, Mahfud also did not ask for protocols more than what the government had given him as a vice presidential candidate when carrying out campaign activities.
At the event, Mahfud received questions from the audience regarding his response on the advice of his partner, the Candidate for President of the Republic of Indonesia Ganjar Pranowo for Mahfud to resign from the minister to avoid conflicts of interest.
Mahfud replied that he would resign as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs waiting for the right time and momentum, and would be done well.
