Mahfud MD Still Must Guard Strategic Things At The Coordinating Ministry For Political, Legal And Security Affairs Before Resigning

JAKARTA - Deputy for Politics 5.0 of the Ganjar-Mahfud National Winning Team (TPN), Andi Widjajanto, explained the reason Mahfud MD was still waiting for the right momentum to resign from the position of Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam).

Mahfud, said Andi, still had to oversee two strategic matters that were at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs until the condition could be abandoned by Mahfud when he resigned from his position. However, Andi did not explain what the strategic thing in question was.

"There are things at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs that are strategic in nature, Mr. Mahfud will tell himself, which makes Mr. Mahfud must continue to oversee it. Especially there are two strategic things that Mr. Mahfud oversees, so Mr. Mahfud has decided not to resign," said Andi at the Media Center TPN Ganjar-Mahfud, Central Jakarta, Thursday, January 25.

Along with that, Andi said Mahfud was also preparing for the leadership transition that had been carried out at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs before finally submitting his resignation proposal to President Joko Widodo.

"Pak Mahfud has spoken with Mas Ganjar in the morning on the day of the fourth debate and it has been agreed that Mr. Mahfud will definitely resign," explained Andi.

"It remains now how to prepare the transition at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, then convey it to the President with appropriate state administration and manners," Andi continued.

Previously at the Collis Prof in Semarang, Mahfud MD stated that he would resign from his position as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs to prevent conflicts of interest. However, this step was taken at the right moment.

"At the right time, we will definitely submit a good resignation," Mahfud said in a YouTube live broadcast Mahfud MD Official, Tuesday night, January 23.

Mahfud emphasized that the matter of resignation had indeed been discussed with his presidential candidate pair, Ganjar Pranowo. Suggestions were also given by the former Governor of Central Java.

However, he could not immediately apply for himself to resign from his position. Because there is still work to be done.

"What Pak Ganjar said to the public this afternoon was my agreement with Pak Ganjar from the start," said Mahfud.

"So there is no conflict with Pak Ganjar," continued the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK).
