KPK Working On Former Deputy Speaker Of The House Of Representatives Azis Syamsuddin In The Bribery And Money Laundering Case Rita Widyasari
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) examined former Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives Azis Syamsuddin at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta today, Tuesday, January 22.
He will be questioned regarding the alleged bribery and money laundering (TPPU) that ensnared the former Kutai Kartanegara Regent Rita Widyasari.
"The person concerned is present and is undergoing examination," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters in a written statement, Tuesday, January 23.
Ali said investigators would also examine other parties. They are Agus Susanto who is an entrepreneur, a student named Sake R. Pattuju, a housewife named Riefka Amalia, and Ardi Yanoor who is an employee or legal staff of Maskur Husain.
"Located at the KPK's Red and White Building, the investigative team has scheduled summons and examinations of witnesses," he said.
The examination material that will be asked of Azis has not been detailed. However, the witnesses are suspected of knowing about Rita's alleged bribery and money laundering.

As previously reported, Azis Syamsuddin was proven to have given bribes to former KPK investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju in the amount of Rp. 3.6 billion. The giving was related to the handling of Rita Widyasari's case, which both came from the Golkar Party.
Meanwhile, Azis has now been released conditionally on August 18, 2023. At that time, he received seven months of remission because he was considered to have good behavior while being a prisoner at the Class I prison in Tangerang.
