4 Facts About Indonesia Arena, Stadium With A Capacity Of More Than 16,000 People
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) revealed four (4) important facts regarding the Indonesia Arena Senayan or the Indoor Multifunction Stadium which was used as a venue for organizing world basketball in 2023.
The location itself is located in the Gelora Bung Karno complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta.
The first fact is that the Indonesia Arena is built with innovative and modern designs.
"Having an innovative and modern architectural design by combining traditional Indonesian elements and contemporary touch. The design is similar to a woven basket that reflects the meaning of Indonesian cultural diversity," reads PUPR's statement on its official Instagram page @kemenpupr, quoted Monday, January 22.
Second, the Indonesia Arena has extraordinary capacity. This place itself has an area of 31,826 square meters with a building area of 50,398 square meters. So that it can accommodate around 16,000 spectators.
Third, the place is an environmentally friendly stadium, which has implemented the concept of a green building.
"Utilizing natural light and paying attention to air circulation so that it is energy efficient. Containing rainwater so that it can be reused for other needs, such as watering plants," he added.
The fourth or last fact is that the Indonesia Arena is a legacy for the long term.
"Indonesia Arena has a long-term goal of becoming a sustainable center of sports and entertainment in Indonesia by continuing to serve the local and international community by becoming a place for various sports events, concerts and other cultural activities," the statement said.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had inaugurated the Indonesia Arena or the Indoor Multifunction Stadium (IMS) in the Gelora Bung Karno area, Jakarta, on Monday, August 7, 2023.
"Today, we already have a name Indonesia Arena, a stadium with a capacity of approximately 16,000 spectators," said Jokowi.
"By saying Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, I inaugurate Indonesia's arena at GBK Jakarta," he added.
The Indonesia Arena was built to support the implementation of the 2023 International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Basketball World Cup, which will be held on August 25, September-10, 2023. Indonesia was selected as the host along with Japan and the Philippines.
