Garuda Indonesia Facilitates The Delivery Of West Java UMKM Products From Kertajati Airport, Ridwan Kamil: Thank You
JAKARTA - PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk encourages the ecosystem of micro, small and medium enterprises in West Java by providing logistics delivery through West Java International Airport (BIJB), Kertajati. This step is one of the key points in the company's cooperation with the West Java Provincial Government.
President Director of Garuda Indonesia Irfaniaputra said that his party is committed to continuing to support the national development program by increasing connectivity between all regions in Indonesia.
"Currently the MSME sector supports 90 percent of economic activity in West Java. Of course we are optimistic that the operation of cargo flights from Kertajati Airport can become a momentum in itself in supporting economic growth through direct flight services with shorter times and distances and more competitive logistics costs," he said in a written statement received by VOI, Tuesday, February 23.
Irfan added that Garuda supports West Java's target of making Kertajati Airport a national logistics center by operating a special cargo charter flight service.
"We also agreed to build synergies in several aspects including the development and provision of passenger and cargo air transportation services, regional development, human resource development, optimization of environmental social responsibility (TJSL) programs for regional development and promotion of tourist destinations," he said.
On the same occasion, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil said that Kertajati Airport is one of the supporting elements of the formation of metropolitan integrated spatial planning.
He said that the new metropolitan of West Java in 2030 is predicted to absorb 4.39 million workers with an economic growth rate of 6.83 percent and an investment rate of 6.07 percent.
"On this occasion, I would like to thank Garuda for collaborating on efforts to restore the regional economy," he said.
The bureaucrat who is familiarly called Kang Emil revealed that he hoped that this momentum could pave the way for MSME production to penetrate foreign markets.
"I hope that domestic and export-import business players located in West Java and other provinces on the island of Java can take advantage of cargo flight services through Kertajati International Airport," he added.
For information, the national airline Garuda Indonesia on Tuesday, February 22 officially serves cargo flights on the route from Kertajati Airport to Hang Nadim Airport, Batam, which is currently being served by charter flights.
The inaugural charter flight transports superior commodities as well as West Java MSME products and is served using a Boeing 737-800 fleet which has a carrying capacity of up to 10 tons.
In addition, Garuda also serves a direct call cargo flight network for the country's leading export commodities in Eastern Indonesia by opening special cargo flights from Makassar - Singapore, Denpasar - Hong Kong and Manado - Narita which are served once per week. Meanwhile, the fleet used is the Airbus A330.
