Moeldoko Asks Officers Organizing The 2024 General Election And Regional Head Elections To Protect Their Health Rights
JAKARTA The Presidential Chief of Staff, General TNI (Ret.) Moeldoko, asked the ministry/institution to ensure that all election and regional election administrators in 2024 are registered as active participants in the National Health Insurance (JKN) program and follow the screening history of the health.
This is to map out the health risks of officers so that the implementation of this year's democratic party does not cause casualties.
As one of the largest democratic countries in the world, the high number of officers' deaths can be in the national and international spotlight. Especially if it is seen that there is no significant effort from the state. Officers must be protected by their health rights," said Moeldoko when chairing the Coordination Meeting for the Implementation of BPJS Health Screening Services and Optimizing Active Participation of the JKN Program for Election Organizing Officers and the 2024 Pilkada, at the Bina Graha Jakarta building, Thursday, January 18.
As is known, in the 2019 election, there were around 722 election organizers who died and 798 others fell ill.
On the electoral supervisory side, at least 33 supervisors died, and 433 others fell ill. This number does not include the security forces from the TNI/Polri.
Moeldoko said the government had formed a monitoring and evaluation team related to the implementation of health history screening services and optimizing the active participation of the JKN program for election and regional election administrators in 2024.
The team, which consists of 12 ministries/agencies and consists of more than 85 people, is a follow-up to the Joint Circular (SEB) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, BPJS Health, General Election Commission (KPU), and Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu), on November 20, 2023.
"I want this team to work seriously in the field. I ask that there will be regular reports later for me to convey to the President and Vice President as well as ministers and heads of institutions," said Moeldoko.
The 2013-2015 TNI Commander reminded the implementation of health history screening services and optimization of active participation in the JKN program for election and regional election administrators, a form of state presence to protect and provide health rights for officers. From the government side, said Moeldoko, this step is also an effort to increase preparedness.
The process of democracy can run well if it is supported by all conditions including health. If the organizers are healthy, we can achieve quality elections," he said.
Furthermore, Moeldoko also emphasized the importance of the 'Fast Finding and Fast Reporting' system for election and election administrators who were sick and died.
"So that later there will be no more data differences in Ministries/institutions related to sick and dead officers. Don't let any officers get sick or die, but we don't know," said Moeldoko.
For information, as of January 16, 2024, there have been 1,175,000 election and regional election administrators in 2024 following the health history screening by BPJS Kesehatan. Of these, 8.69% or 104,383 officers were at risk of disease, and 91.12% or 1,070,617 officers were not at risk of illness. Meanwhile, related to the active participation of the JKN program, out of 1,175,000 officers, 972,666 of them were registered as active participants, and 202,334 officers were not participants.
"There are still many who have not been registered, we will help BPJS immediately. Take advantage of the available time to immediately fill in the data and we do screening," concluded Moeldoko.
