South Kalimantan Provincial Government Standby For DHF, Last Month 82 Cases And 2 Among Them Died

Head of the South Kalimantan Provincial Health Office, Diauddin, said that the province is now wary of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) because as many as 82 cases were found in January 2024. "Even two of them have died," he said in Banjarmasin, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 17. Diahuddin said, that the case of dengue at the beginning of this year increased when compared to last year in the same month. "So when compared to January last year there was an increase, January last year it was not until 80 cases, now only mid-January 2024 it was more," he said. But when compared to one year ago, said Diauddin, of course there were many cases, reaching 3,113 cases with death rates as many as 20 people. He said, that the highest case of dengue fever last year in Banjar Regency, then Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency and Hulu Sungai Tengah. "If earlier this year found many cases were in Banjarbaru City, also in Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency and Hulu Sungai Tengah," he said. Even though the number of disease cases caused by the Aedes aegypti mosquito has increased significantly, Diauddin stated that it has not yet increased the status of extraordinary events (KLB). "Not yet until the other KLB DBD of our province," he asserted. The South Kalimantan Provincial Government wants all people to be aware of the transmission of this disease by implementing environmental cleanliness so that mosquitoes cannot breed. "The district/city government is also asked to increase the socialization of DBD to the community," he said. Moreover, in the rainy season it is quite high, which makes it easier for the DHD mosquito to breed in puddles. "Therefore we must jointly eradicate it," said Diauddin.
