India Open 2024: Dejan/Gloria Eliminated In The First Round
JAKARTA The mixed doubles Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja were eliminated in the first round of the 2024 India Open after being arrested by Feng Yan Zhe/Huang Dong Ping.
Dejan/Gloria failed to get a second round ticket after losing rubber games 15-21, 23-21, and 12-21 in a long match of 73 minutes against the fourth seed from China on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, WIB night.
Dejan/Gloria took the lead at the start of the first game, but they were then overtaken by opponents. After the opponent was superior, Dejan/Gloria did not have the opportunity to equalize the score again.
In the second game Dejan/Gloria accelerated the tempo of their game and managed to dominate throughout the match. The opponent had a moment to equalize the score in the final point, but Dejan/Gloria managed to force them to the match until the game decided.

"In the third game, we again tried the same pattern, but they were better prepared. In addition, we also lost the start. It's a shame we died a lot by ourselves in the early days," said Dejan.
This defeat automatically worsened Dejan/Gloria's winning-loose record to 1-3. Previously, three clashes last year, Dejan/Gloria won once at the Asian Badminton Championships in Dubai.
At the Malaysia Open 2024 last week, Dejan/Gloria managed to get through the first round. However, their journey at the Super 1000 event then ran aground in the second half.
"We want to try to enjoy the game in every tournament, enjoy how to process as well. While we are still given the opportunity, in the rest of the Race to Olympics program we want the maximum," said Gloria.
Apart from Dejan/Gloria, tickets to the second round of the India Open also failed to be secured by the men's doubles Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin. The couple returned home after being beaten by the Danish pair, Rasmus Kjaer/Frederik Sogaard.
In total, of the four Indonesian representatives who fought today, only two of them qualified for the second round. The two representatives in question are the women's singles Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and the men's doubles Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto.
