In The Aftermath Of The Beating In Tunjungan Surabaya, The Police Secured Hundreds Of Youth Convoys

The Surabaya City Police (Polrestabes) led hundreds of youths to anticipate a convoy that could potentially disrupt security and order in the area, following a beating on Jalan Tunjungan.

Head of Public Relations of the Surabaya Polrestabes AKP Haryoko Widhi said as many as 139 youths were secured through joint patrols to anticipate the convoy of groups suspected of being from one of the silat colleges.

In addition, hundreds of youths and 66 two-wheeled vehicles were also secured from a location for the "Kopdar" activity in the AURI Banyu Urip field.

"For the time being, we have brought the youths to the Surabaya Polrestabes to be recorded and received guidance and an examination was carried out regarding the purpose of carrying out the 'Kopdar' activity in the Banyu Urip area," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 16.

The young men who were arrested were able to contact relatives or their families and accompanied by the local Bhabinkamtibmas to take them home.

Meanwhile, 66 two-wheeled vehicles that were secured at the Colombo Surabaya Satpas are being checked by traffic units related to vehicle completeness according to the rules or not.

"Joint patrol activities to anticipate convoys of silat college groups or other potential disturbances to social order will continue to be held by the Polrestabes as an anticipatory measure. So that safe and conducive security and social order in the city of Surabaya can be realized," he said.

Previously, two youths, namely A (21) and SH (19) suffered lacerations to their heads due to the beatings carried out by a number of youths on Jalan Tunjungan Surabaya.

Head of Emergency and Logistics BPBD Surabaya Buyung Hidayat, in his statement in Surabaya, Monday, said the beating occurred on Sunday (14/1) night, around 23.26 WIB.

Buyung said, through the statement of the victim who suffered injuries, it started only hanging out with his friends in the Tunjungan area.
