Call All Evidence Already In The Hands Of The Prosecutor, Dito Mahendra Proposes Suspension Of Detention
JAKARTA - The defendant Mahendra Dito Sampurno alias Dito Mahendra submitted a request for a suspension of detention in the case of alleged possession of firearms or illegal weapons.
The application was submitted by his legal team during the inaugural trial or the reading of the indictment at the South Jakarta District Court, Monday, January 15.
"We want to submit a letter requesting the suspension of detention or the transfer of the type of detention to the panel," said Dito Mahendra's attorney, Boris Tampubolon.
The panel of judges responded to the request by stating that they would consider the matter.
After the trial, Boris said the request was submitted because his client was no longer likely to obstruct the process of handling the case. This is because all the evidence in the case has been collected.
"Yes, the suspension of detention is subjective, it means like this, legally the reason is only 3. He will not run away, he will not repeat it, and will not eliminate or damage evidence, all of this has been collected by the public prosecutor, all the evidence is there, so what else is to be eliminated, just be tested," he said.
In addition, Boris said that Dito would be cooperative. This means that if his client is allowed, his client will not run or hinder the ongoing trial process.
"He is cooperative, meaning that if the trial will come later, it will not interfere with the proceedings," he said.
"The third is running away, we guarantee that will not happen, because the guarantor is the family, we hope this can be considered by the panel of judges and can give a suspension to Dito Mahendra," continued Boris.
