SERANG - The Serang Kota Police Team arrested four suspects in vehicle theft by shattering car windows.
Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Serang City Police, AKP Mochamad Nandar in Serang, Monday said that the suspects in the theft of a vehicle with the mode of shattering the car glass had the initials IM (28), HN (53), UN (31), a resident of Palembang and AR (54) from Pondok Aren. , South Tangerang.
"Armed with CCTV footage in several crime scenes, he saw the movements of the perpetrators and the vehicles used, and we were able to immediately arrest them," said AKP Nandar as quoted by Antara, Monday, February 22.
Of the four suspects, they are an inter-provincial thief syndicate that acts in the jurisdiction of the Banten Police and the Serang Kota Police. Then, the action has been carried out from 2018 to 2021.
"This is an inter-provincial syndicate, because their actions have also been carried out in several outside regions. Furthermore, we will also carry out development," he said.
The mode used by the perpetrators of the theft, he said, was by looking for cars that were parked at offices or homes. After finding the target, they observe and if there is any valuables in it, the perpetrator immediately breaks the glass using a modified ring or other tools.
"Surely they saw and monitored the target who had indeed gotten out of the car and was spied on, there was something and there he was trying to do the action," said Nandar.
There is also evidence that has been successfully secured including 1 (one) modified sharp tip ring, 1 (one) key eye, 1 (one) Y leter key, 1 (one) T leter, 1 (one) black flashlights, 1 (one) unit of black Suzuki Satria motorcycle, 1 (one) unit gray Daihatsu Xenia brand car and 2 (two) black helmet brands INK and NHK.
For his actions, the suspects will be charged under Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with weighted charges, with the threat of a prison sentence of 15 years.
"I invite cooperation with the community, especially the City of Serang, that to anticipate theft or other crimes, please install CCTV in private homes or in shops and offices for safety," he said.
