Volkswagen Confirms No Manual Transmission At Latest GTI Golf

JAKARTA - Volkswagen, Germany's largest automaker, recently introduced AI-based ChatGPT technology to be embedded in some of its models, including the latest GTI Golf, at the CES 2024 event. In addition, the company is also providing updates on this model.

Quoted from Motor1, Tuesday, January 9, which was also reported first by Automotive News, Volkswagen confirmed that the latest golf will not be equipped with a manual transmission system, and 2024 will be the last year for the R model with significant changes.

Kai Grunitz, Technical Development Brand VW, explained that the main reason behind the disappearance of this manual transmission is related to emission regulations. Although Euro 7 regulations have experienced leeway, the development of this latest model began when the regulation was still stricter.

"When we started development, there was no clear understanding of when the Euro 7 rules would be released. Under certain circumstances, we had to start development. Otherwise, you won't be finished on time," said Grunitz.

In addition, VW has launched Golf GTI 380 2024 as the last GTI Golf model equipped with manual transmission. The "380" figure refers to the eighth generation internal code model, Mk8. This tradition follows in the footsteps of the previous GTI, such as GTI 337 which referred to the fourth generation in 2002.

This car uses a manual transmission of six accelerations in collaboration with a 2.0 liter turbocharged EA888 4-cylinder engine, producing up to 241 dk of power and a maximum torque of 370 Nm.

Volkswagen presents this model at prices ranging from 32,485 US dollars or around Rp494.9 million to US$40,625 or equivalent to Rp618.9 million. The price does not include shipping costs.
