Billie Eilish And Finneas Win Awards At The 2024 Golden Globe Awards
JAKARTA - Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell won awards in the Best Original Song category at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards which took place at The Beverly Hilton, Los Angeles, United States on Sunday, January 7 local time.
Both of them received an award as songwriters for the Barbie film soundtrack entitled What Was I Made For?.
In his winning speech, Billie Eilish called his older brother, Finneas the person who formed him today. He also thanked the two people who wrote Barbie scripts, Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach, and Margot Robbie as the main characters.
"Thank you very much to the Golden Globes, I didn't expect this at this point. Thanks to my brother Finneas, you are the reason I am myself," Billie Eilish said.
"I want to thank Greta and Noah for making this amazing film. I want to thank Margot for being the Margot we know and love," he continued.
Then, Billie mentioned the names of people he considered meritorious in his music career.
"I want to thank Mattel and Interscope, my labels, and Darkroom as well as my amazing team Chelsea and Michelle, as well as my managers and mothers. Once again, my mother, my father, and my brother," he said.
Furthermore, the 22-year-old singer recalled the moment she wrote What Was I Made For? At that time, she admitted that she was in bad shape, and wrote a soundtrack for Barbie to have saved her.
"And you know, exactly a year ago we were shown the film and I was very sad and depressed at that time. And writing the song saved me a little," Billie Eilish said.
"And a year later, we were here and it wasn't really real. I feel very lucky. Very lucky and grateful, and you scared me, everyone in this room, but thank you very much," he said.
With the award this time, Billie Eilish became the fourth woman to win the Best Original Song category at the Golden Globe Awards twice.
