Tricks Make IPhone Taste Android 10

JAKARTA - Who would have thought that Apple products, namely the iPhone, could run Android 10. Yes, cybersecurity startup Corellium found a trick that was quite surprising by changing the mobile operating system made by Steve Jobs.

It was David Wang and his peers at the startup who did the trick on Project Sandcastel. Changing the operating system (hacking) occurred in several devices such as the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and iPod Touch.

Corellium co-founder Chris Wade said that this hack does not work for old and new iPhones such as the 5S and X series. Because the hack uses the Checkrain Jailbreak system. However, if newer Jailbreak technology appears, it will certainly work for the newest Apple devices. Given that this vulnerability is at its most basic, Apple claims it won't be able to fix it on modified devices.

As in general, a jailbreak like Checkrain can make the iPhone less secure, because it eliminates sandboxing, that is, it prevents malicious code from one app stealing data from another, among other security protections. Hence, it is necessary to take this into account and seek further information before installing it.

To build Project Sandcastel, the Corellium team used its own tools, which were able to quickly spin up iPhone and Android software versions. Without this ability, if the hack damages the device, they must be willing their iPhone can no longer function, aka completely dead. But with these tools, they can make virtual phones. It is the virtual version that has disappointed Apple with its copyright, which claims that Corellium is illegally replicating the iPhone.

Previously, in August last year Corellium was brought to court by Apple, which claimed that the startup violated copyright law by creating a software version of the iPhone for security and testing.

Even so, Corellium has high ambitions for Project Sandcastel. They say that it will really show how Apple's security, which has been fiercely protected since launching its flagship phone in 2007, could be deconstructed and taken over by someone else.

"Project Sandcastel is something fun and builds something new from the hard work of the pride of Silicon Valley, the United States (US)," said Corellium CEO Amanda Gorton as quoted by Forbes, Saturday, March 7.

On the same occasion, Forbes tried to change the iPhone 7 system that has iOS 13.3 to Android 10. They found an interesting thing, namely that the message application signal was encrypted. This represents a more interesting use than just starting up running Android on iPhone. If you're interested in trying it out in beta, head to the ProjectSnadcastel.org site and follow the instructions. However, it should be noted that if you have jailbroken your cellphone, it is guaranteed that your cellphone's security will be easily hacked by others.
