LSI Survey: Majority Of East Java Voters Satisfied With Jokowi's Performance Support Prabowo-Gibran

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) released the results of a survey entitled 'The Latest Map of the 2024 Election Competition in East Java'. The survey shows that the majority of the people of East Java (East Java) who are satisfied with the performance of Joko Widodo (Jokowi), will choose candidate pair number 2, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka in the 2024 presidential election.

"The survey was conducted on December 16-28 (2023), there were 82.7 percent of voters who said they were satisfied with President Jokowi's performance," said LSI Executive Director Djayadi Hanan in a virtual survey presentation, Friday, January 5.

"Among those who said they were satisfied, almost 50 percent supported Prabowo-Gibran. So they no longer went to Ganjar Pranowo," he continued.

In this category, continued Djayadi, only 28.6 East Java residents were satisfied with Jokowi's performance and chose candidate pair number 3, Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD. While the other 13.8 percent supported candidate pair number 1, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar.

In addition, said Djayadi, the Prabowo-Gibran electability rate is also high in the category of East Java residents who chose Jokowi-Ma'ruf in the previous presidential election.

"As many as 43.9 percent of Jokowi's supporters in 2019 chose the candidate pair from the Advanced Indonesia Coalition. Then 35.2 percent supported Ganjar-Mahfud, and another 14.4 percent chose Anies-Muhaimin," he said.

Meanwhile, on Prabowo's voter base in 2019, added Djayadi, supporters of the General Chair of the Gerindra Party in East Java are still loyal to his choice. The majority of Prabowo supporters, namely 66.3 percent will still vote for Prabowo-Gibran in the 2024 presidential election.

Meanwhile, support for Anies-Muhaimin is 23.3 percent, and only 7.8 percent of East Java's voters Prabowo in 2019 will vote for Ganjar-Mahfud.

"Permilih Prabowo Subianto (in 2019) cukup solid mendukung kembali Prabowo Subianto di Jawa Timur," ucap Djayadi.

Overall in East Java, Djayadi said, if the presidential election was held at the time of the survey, the Prabowo-Gibran Raka pair would come out as winners with an electability rate of 46.7 percent, followed by Ganjar-Mahfud who received 26.6 percent support and Anies-Imin at 16.2 percent.

"There are still around 10.4 percent of voters who have not made their choice or do not answer," concluded Djayadi.

For information, the LSI survey was conducted in the period 16-28 December 2023 with a total sample of 8,800 respondents in East Java Province.
