Minister Basuki Prepared Emergency And Long-Term Steps To Hit Bekasi City
JAKARTA - The Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono has prepared emergency and long-term measures related to the floods that hit Bekasi City.
"There have been two actions, first in this year the PUPR Ministry will handle the Bekasi river / river system starting from the confluence of the Cikeas and Cileungsi Rivers to the Bekasi river estuary. One of the packages has been contracted and will be implemented at the end of February 2021, God willing, 2 years will be completed. , "said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono in an official statement received in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Sunday, February 21.
Minister Basuki stated that he had carried out intensive coordination with the Regional Government (Pemda) of West Java and the City Government (Pemkot) of Bekasi for the normalization of the Bekasi River, mainly related to land acquisition.
"The total length to be handled is 33 km. We from PUPR have made a systemic plan into seven packages," said Minister Basuki.
Specifically for flood emergency handling at Pondok Gede Permai Housing, the PUPR Ministry will close the 60 meter long embankment with geobags estimated at 700 pieces.
"I ask for 3 days to finish filling in the geobag and install it here, so if it recedes a little, it will go straight in not waiting to dry," said Minister Basuki.
The flood in Pondok Gede Permai occurred due to the breakdown of the Bekasi river embankment near the housing complex due to heavy rain that occurred early Saturday morning.
It was recorded that at least 700 families were affected by flooding in the housing complex and currently evacuation is being carried out by the Police and the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).
