3 Ajax Coaching Staff Isolated Due To Covid-19 Infection
JAKARTA - Three Ajax coaching staff are indicated by the corona virus or COVID-19. Assistant coach Christian Poulsen and two other members of the training staff are not allowed to join the club to avoid unwanted things.
The three men will have to remain indoors until next Friday after Poulsen made contact with former Denmark international Thomas Kahlenberg who is known to have been diagnosed with the virus. Kahlenberg celebrating Poulsen's 40th birthday in the Netherlands last Sunday.
The other two were psychologist Alessandro Schoenmaker and a psychotherapist who also came to the birthday party.
"They are not experiencing symptoms and if that continues they will return to work next week," an Ajax spokesman told Dutch media. Launch Soccerway, Saturday, March 7.
Poulsen, a former Juventus and Liverpool midfielder, will not accompany coach Erik ten Hag when Ajax travel to Heerenveen this weekend.
Meanwhile, the players from two Danish Super League clubs Brondby and Lyngby were isolated after they met and embraced Kahlenberg, who has tested positive for the coronavirus, in a match last weekend.
Kahlenberg, who played 47 games for Denmark between 2003 and 2014 as well as Auxerre and VfL Wolfsburg before hanging up his boots in 2017, tested positive on Thursday and is subject to quarantine, Brondby wrote.
Kahlenberg, who played for Denmark at the 2010 World Cup, became infected following a visit to Amsterdam.
Brondby, who beat Lyngby 1-0 last Saturday, said 13 staff were isolated, including general manager Ole Palma, defender Joel Kabongo and assistant coach Martin Retov. Lyngby said the three players who had physical contact with Kahlenberg on Sunday have been isolated.
The two teams face league matches this weekend. The Danish FA stated that for now all matches will continue as planned this weekend, but will continue to monitor.
The two clubs said they were working with the Danish Patients Authority to track down players, supporters and anyone who had physical contact with Kahlenberg during Sunday's game.
Danish Club Quarantine 13 People
Brondby has quarantined 13 people after they met Kahlenberg who tested positive for the coronavirus. 21-year-old defender Joel Kabongo, is in quarantine with assistant coach Martin Retov while three of Lyngby's players must also be isolated.
Schultz told BBC Radio Kabongo met Kahlenberg after the game because they were former team-mates and the two "shook hands." The director also confirmed that their data analyst, a psychologist and nine staff members, including their chief executive Ole Palma, are in isolation.
Midfielder Lyngby Martin Ornskov, right-back Kasper Jorgensen and left-back Patrick da Silva will also have to be quarantined for 14 days after meeting Kahlenberg after the match.
Schultz said Kahlenberg was "very, very sorry for the upheaval it caused" but he was in "good spirits."
