Minister Of Communication And Information: 4G BTS In 3T Regions Increase Community Productivity

JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi stated that the operation of the 4G Base Transceiver Station (BTS) will increase community productivity in disadvantaged, frontier and outermost (3T) areas.

"The main target of developing digital infrastructure is how to make people more productive. So this digitization makes people, citizens more productive," Budi Arie said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, December 30.

According to the Minister of Communication and Information, the presence of digital infrastructure in 3T areas can support public services in the education, health, defense and security sectors, as well as the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector.

Thus, the people of the 3T area can enjoy the benefits of equitable digital access according to their needs.

"So this digital infrastructure makes people, especially in 3T areas, have connected access in digital spaces," he said.

In the Inauguration of the BTS 4G BAKTI Operation of the Ministry of Communication and Information and SATRIA-1 Integration with the earth station in Talaud Islands, North Sulawesi, Thursday (28/12), President Joko Widodo said the construction of BTS in Papua faced considerable challenges.

Therefore, the President ordered the TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto and the National Police Chief General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo to assist the implementation of the 4G BTS Development to be completed in 2024.

"Mr. President yesterday said that we have to solve what Papua has to do. And, I have asked for at least six months to be completed. And we have coordinated with the TNI Commander and also the National Police Chief who will back up in terms of security," explained the Minister of Communication and Information.

Not only that, Minister Budi Arie emphasized that he would accelerate the completion of the 4G BTS development in other areas that had not yet been completed. According to him, this is intended to equalize internet connectivity so that it can be enjoyed by the Indonesian people.

"Papua, we have to complete 630 location points in one semester. Later, other areas, especially 3T, will also be accelerated," he said.

The Minister of Communication and Information is optimistic that the construction of 4G BTS in all 3T regions will be completed before the end of President Joko Widodo's term of office.
