Police Narcotics Task Force Arrests 11,828 Suspects, Shabu To Cocaine Confiscated

JAKARTA - The Narcotics Abuse and Circulation Task Force arrested a total of 11,828 suspects and confiscated various types of drugs.

"We, the Narcotics Abuse and Circulation Task Force of the National Police since it was formed in September 2023 until the end of December 2023 during this period, the Narcotics Management Task Force at the Headquarters level and ranks have succeeded in arresting 11,828 suspects," said Deputy Chief of Criminal Investigation of the National Police Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri at the National Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Friday, December 29.

Asep explained that 9,628 of them are currently in the process of being investigated and 2,200 other suspects are undergoing rehabilitation.

According to him, the number of cases of drug abuse is also based on police reports of 7,921 reports.

Asep said that the establishment of the Narcotics Task Force was an attention from President Jokowi which was followed up by the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

The handling of drug cases was carried out by the Narcotics Task Force involving the Narcotics Directorate of the Aceh Police, Customs and Excise, Riau Police, West Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Unit, South Sumatra Police, and East Java Police.

The following is evidence of drugs confiscated in handling cases:

- Shabu: 700,645 grams

- Ecstasy: 145,251 points

- Marijuana: 249,436 grams

- Cocaine: 2,039 grams

- Gorilla Tobacco: 103,919 grams

- Good luck: 1 gram

- Ketaminas: 1,095 grams

- Hard drugs: 1,707,434 pills
