His Request Was Not Heeded, Ari Bias Larang Agnez Mo Performs His Song

JAKARTA - Ari Bias forbade Agnes Monica alias Agnez Mo to perform his songs. The Elkasih band personnel have written several songs for the singer's initial album in the early 2000s.

Meanwhile, since problems related to song royalties have surfaced again, Ari has implemented direct licenses for his songs. Without going through an institution that has been determined by law to collect royalties, he wants singers who bring their songs to pay their royalties directly to him.

"Yes, I have actually said since July 2023, that I have implemented direct licenses for my songs to the singers who performed my songs, one of which was Agnes Monica," said Ari Bias in Gambir, Central Jakarta, Thursday, December 28.

"That's my song including hits too, because the first single is from the first album and the first single is from the second album. And it's usually always performed at every concert," he continued.

Ari admitted that he had submitted his request to several related parties. However, the management of Agnez Mo was said to be uncooperative, until finally there was no other way but to prohibit Agnez Mo from performing these songs.

"After I informed them that I implemented direct license, and not only to Agnes Mo but also to other singers and her assessment was cooperative, just not like Agnez Mo's management who did not respond positively, lacked enthusiasm like others, that the condition of the songwriter is not doing well. They do not get royalties or economic rights from every concert performed by their songs," said Ari Bias.

"Because I never responded positively, I finally banned the song I performed, especially for Agnez Mo," he said.
